Hmmm, well, if I was ever asked to choose a song to time a performance to, I would go with the song I usually do my workouts to: "Suck a Sage", Chipp Zanuff's theme from Guilty Gear X. It may be speed metal, but it certainly is impressive if you get it right.

Congradulations on your acceptance to the tournament. though i agree with banana, i don't really like the idea of improvising a weapons pattern like that ... exspecialy to some of your suggested songs. I personaly don't like the idea, but do what ever you feel comfortable with.

When i was in Taw Kwon-do i didn't like tournaments. I didn't really like sparring because i was usualy the largest kid and got disqualified because the other kid started crying when i scored a point. patterns werent that bad, except for the fact that i suck at looking good doing a pattern.

anyways, good luck.

That never made any sense to me: the best guy never wins because he actually hurts someone while, you know, fighting him, and thus the winner gets disqualified. This is exactly why I left Tae Kwon Do the second I got my black belt and went into personal training and study of stuff like Aikido and Jeet Kun Do. Fun stuff, and no cry babies.

Oh, and God speed to you keyboardsamurai in your effort to unleash the pain on the competition, or whatever it is you are seeknig to accomplish.

Personally I find most martial arts tournaments, at least in the US (I have no idea what sorts of stuff they do in other countries), to be kinda...boring. I mean, it's all like flashy and for show, mixed in with a bunch of defensive art bullshit. It's almost like watching a ballet. In fact I think they should make them lil pussies prance around in tights and a tutu, it'd be kinda fitting. I say, what's the fun of martial arts if you can't break your opponents bones and still come out as the winner.

Oh, as far as the original poster of this thread, if you're slow you could try using a silver colored bo, it'll look like it's spinning faster than it really is.

Now I know you didn't just call me a

did you?

I'll admit that none contact sparring martial arts (point sparring) is no where near as fun as full contact (which I do practice in my class every wednesday) but it does have it's own qualities (as in point sparring tends to be more about speed then power or accuracy).

There are those cry babies out there and there are also those hard asses out there. Like martial arts there will always be a mixture. On my wednesday classes I do go for power and contact (like every one else) and believe me you do not want to do any "pretty $hit here." As far as that gose Jeet Kundo is "prittier then "Muy thai, grappling, boxing and kick boxing).

p.s. any more song suggestions?

I'd choose Tourniquet over Going under. And linkin park how about the instrumental ones, session or mister hahn. I think they'd go better when doing slow into fast and fast into slow parts of the pattern you create.

Anyway, I started out doing contact sparring with just gloves (it was your choice to wear how much you wanted, as long as you had gloves) I liked it. Since we weren't going full force, you could kick at the stomach. It was fun.

Now, I'm at a different school and they are more based on TKD. So more padding then I like and what makes sense. for the longest time I was use to moving my body (stomach/chest region) away or around attacks so I was more flexible, damn body pad got rid of that. I hated sparring at this school for the longest time. I've gotten use to it, reason they have so many rules is also cause of the state. No heavy head contact unless they are an upper belt. But I have learned some knew techniques and picked my speed back up. If anything its a good workout, but I miss grappling and such. They do it at my school, but its rare and I think left for black belts. Although this one time the Grand Master pitted me against a junior black belt while I was a gold, and we ended up 1-1 and took to long so he just made us stop. Even know just thinkin about it, I wish I could be doing it alot more. *sigh* :( at least I'm learning weapons now.

I hate most popular martial arts myself. To many regulations and focus on belt advancement. This is probably why I have dropped from every class I have ever taken of a popular martial art (by popular I mean somewhere, where for 20 bux a month you learn martial arts such as Karate, kung fu, TKD and the rest). The training Im doing now is much more to my liking. No belts and no other students. I am the only pupil of Master Chan, which makes for better training. We dont just do kicking and punching. We also do combat training, survival training and spirit training. I think out every martial art I have taken this is the one I enjoy most. The focus is on survival not so much discipline. I am trained how to kill and kill effectivally (wonders if popular martial arts are even allowed to teach that). I spar every day, no pads, full force sparring. Every match is almost a death match.

Just thought I share that. BTW as far as music goes, maybe you can use Pompeii by E.S Posthumus (good action and slow parts).

I'm just expressing my opinions about the tournaments in general, not really talkin about anyone in particular. My rant was focused more on making fun of the people who run the tournaments rather than the participants.

o_O

I can't do point sparring, because of my speed. I move certain parts of my body so fast that there's no time to really judge distances, like my right arm for instance.

I like the hard asses...I like to break them. ^_^

Mmmm, boxing. Now there's a fun sport!

Gotto love those blackbelt factories, they teach people soooooo well, lol.
It's funny to see them try and pull off so many movements just to do one simple thing, then I dodge after watching them for 10 seconds, and with a swift kick and elbow they go down.
