I'm a pizza delivery driver for Domino's. The only reason I'm even working in the pizza business again, is the fact the economy is so shitty in Oregon now, other businesses are just starting to hire for all the employees they had laid off months before. In fact, the economy was so bad when I was looking for a job, thousands of A+ certified computer engineers were competing for positions as waiter or cashier at the local Denny's restaurants. Everyone with a college degree was fighting against a slew of others for the crappieset jobs the typical high schooler gets for the summer.
I can't get full time hours until I've worked with the company for a couple years (which probably won't happen, because this is just another temporary job until I can get back to college).
While I'm only paid minimum wage, I rake in more than $500 in tips and mileage a month, and that's only on a part-time schedule. The work is great, because all I do is drive, deliver the pizza, and help out inside the store when I'm waiting to be dispatched again.
However, I'd prefer to be working for a pizza delivery company that is open for lunch during the week. I can't stand delivering at night (the people around here usually don't turn on their porch lights, don't put their addresses within clear view of the street, and then there's the eyestrain). Also, I prefer working Monday through Friday, rather than getting random weekdays off like I am now.
Over all, I enjoy my job. After throwing in tips and mileage I receive on a daily basis, it's the equivalent of making $12.50+ an hour. All the spending money I use is just from my tips and mileage. This gives me the opportunity to leave my bank account untapped, and use it as an emergency reserve. I also rake in enough to stash some of my tips and mileage away as a secondary reserve.

I work for a marketing firm.
Reguarding the off-topic..I once dated this japanese girl who said the same stuff. She said she hated being alone because of that. It gave me reason to be with her ofcourse more 8) But yeh, she said she would be laying in bed and couldn't move and a voice would speak to her. She always slept with the light on too. And said she saw ghosts around sometimes. I always felt bad for her, didn't know what I could do but just talk to her all the time and be with her. Ah well.

Sounds like aliens. I broadcast subconscious anger and hate to the heavens while I sleep. Needless to say, I have uninterrupted, alien free sleep 8) .
As for my job, I'm a jack of all trades (but not getting paid like one...yet) for Portland State University/Aramark.
Mostly cashiering (fun, lots of pretty ladies to look at), with some food prep on the weekends (not so fun, at least, cutting frozen blocks of chicken isn't), and helping to close the kitchen one night a week (meh).
I like my job, overall, though. I get plenty of food benefits (free lunch, the occasional "take home or it's tossed" item), and I work with some decent people.

that job sounds hot ^_^KillDieMurder wrote:I used to work at Dairy Queen. That job sucked ballsac when customers were around. but it was REAL fun in the autumn. Whipcream/ice cream fights were normal. We had a TV and supernintendo. Mario Kart and mario paint for 8 hours. Ahh, closest I got to getting paid to play video games. We used to take breaks and go rollerblading too. We were bad empoyees.![]()

It was lotsa fun. Every single other employee, except for 2, were friends of mine I knew from school. And the owner trusted us enough to leave the store in our care for most of the time.LightningCountX wrote:that job sounds hot ^_^KillDieMurder wrote:I used to work at Dairy Queen. Agreed. I have no formal computer credentials at all. And now I work doing computer tech support. Basically my company got tired of all the applicants touting A+ and Novell network certification, but unable to tell a bitmap from a .jpg. My boss figured at the time "What if we bring in the guy with no certification?' Guess who got the job?Onideus_Mad_Hatter wrote:A+ certification is kind of a joke though, I mean a freakin monkey could probably get A+ certified. o_O

Before that I was in the Coast Guard. Discharged almost a year ago.
