Fremantle Media wrote: Since premiering as the multi award-winning Pop Idol in the UK in October 2001, the Idols format has been commissioned in over 20 countries. In addition to Denmark the format is set to launch in two other Nordic countries this autumn - Finland and Iceland - having been a massive hit earlier this year on TV2 in Norway.
...
Sue Green, Managing Director Nordic and Central Europe, FremantleMedia Production comments: “I am delighted that we are launching another local version of Idols in this region, following our recent first series in Norway, the final of which achieved an incredible audience share of 82.2% amongst 12 to 44 year olds. The phenomenal performance of this series, and of other productions in the US and in Europe, including in the UK, Germany and the Netherlands, demonstrates the way in which Idols really does capture the public’s imagination. I am sure that audiences in Denmark will be similarly gripped by Idols. Erlig jagt. Egte talent.. We are thrilled to be working with a broadcaster of TV3’s reputation to bring this entertainment spectacular to Denmark.”
Oh BOFH. It's in Denmark, Noray, Germany, the Netherlands, *and* the UK!

It actually seems to be from a UK company... who has perpetrated this crime against decent TV in over 20 contries, soon to be 24.

What the hell is this?!

Sorry, I usually don't use that language. But seriously, Banzai (FOX) was better, at least they had an Obnoxious Announcer.

The second series of Pop Idol (originally a British idea) is airing in the background as I speak. Simon Cowell is still there.

Canadian Idol sucks, as, I'm sure, do the other ones...
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

German idols was funny. Because all the contestants sucked, they had to pick the ones that were the least worst.

Are they having a second series?
Here's what they've come up with so far:

Idols (generic series name for other countries)

Pop Idol (UK) (GB)

American Idol: The search for a superstar (US)

Canadian Idol (CA)

Australian Idols (AU)

Deutschland sucht den Superstar (SW)

Idols: Erlig jagt, Egte talent (GB)

Ídolos (IT)

A la Recherche de la Nouvelle Star (FR) France

Idol - Stjörnuleit (EL)

It's still just called Pop Idol.
