Anime Cliches (sorry for crossposting)

Post by danielwang » Sun Jul 13, 2003 1:13 am

Seriously, why are there so many overused anime cliches? With some shows, even the characters are cliche: anything ranging from the pathetic figure, the unwilling hero, the "badass villain", etc. Such as, "SOmething happened and I have to do something", or even better, "Something happened and I need to do seomthing to get back to the real world", etc.

At least anime is much more innovative than American animation. In this industry, someone has to actually invent an interesting concept before it's ripped off by several other companies a few months later. Compared to crApple Computer, which usually lags behind almost a full year stealing features from Microsoft

P.S.
Yes I did crosspost. I accidentally posted this to WOT first.

You see, when designing a character/plot, it's hard to dodge cliches when you're trying to find something people will relate to/be interested in.

It's pretty easy to see why these bastard factories are making all these identical shows, games, and movies. It makes money. Plus, when multiple people are working on making them, you must compromise your work in order to please whoever you're working with, and whoever you're working for.

Its kind of hard to be innovative when everything seems to have been done at one point or another.
