CG Animation Program?

Does anyone know the program that companies use to produce CG animation like Witch Hunter Robin or like Time Squad? I dont mean 3d... I mean 2d.

Well I think he's talking about Cel Shading.


Lightwave & 3DSMax seem to be the most popular. Lightwave has a built in cel shading shader and 3DSMax has it's own plugin as well "Toon!".

one other suggestion --

Blender will also do toon shading, although you will have to do some lighting tricks to get it to REALLY look toonish. I did a bit of it in a project I'm working on.


Oh yeah, and Blender is free. Code and cash.

Yes 3D Max 5.0 has a plugin called Ink N' Paint. It looks quite cool. Ive actually used it for my new college project:

I know about cel-shading, I meant like the new eps of Dexter's Lab andsuch. I know Painter can do some animation stuffs.

They probably use Adobe Illustrator.
