Propyro - in the future, you can always go to the search right beside the memberlist, and just type in their name. Or if you can't remember their spelling or a part, just wildcard it with an *

Right now, the member counts don't matter much, if they did, phade would have done something about them.

But that doesn't really matter. As long as theirs new blood, theirs a sense of growth.

well if i had done that in the first palce i probably wouldn't have brought up all this since i knew the guys name i was looking for. Hmm, so was it a good thing, or a bad thaing that i never figureed out what the search function dose ... who knows. Very few peopel probalby care. I wonder if any one went to the moderators about this problem. Also i tried to srot by post humbers .. but it wouldn't let you, or i'm just too blind to notice it ... But it sounds like i just went and pissed on some old skeletons sitting in the back of the closet. But i guess Lyrs is right, if it was causing any kind of problems then Phade would ahve taken care of it ...

There's actually quite a few good reasons why there are so many accounts. Some of them already mentionned.

Like the fact some people post here, and then stop. They either grew out of it, or found it wasn't worth the trouble anymore. But at the time, they were quite active members.

This is something to remember, when you register to AnimeMusicVideos.org., you are automatically registered to the forums as well. A member could easliy go a period of time without even knowing there was a forum (myself for example).

Also, people may not enjoy participating, but enjoy the extras given to members, like the extra options on the org, and searches. Even just joining to people able to see the recent Journal entries may be worth it to some people.

And as usual, you have the people who join, and never return. It would be quite difficult to distinguish these members to the ones who just don't like participating. Yes, there are ways to do it, but if it's not hurting the system, why bother?

The most useful search option was the search by total posts. This was useful because you could easily search through all the member from highest to lowest post counts. In other words, you could search through all the active members in something like a couple dozen pages. But with spamming on the horizon, this was taken off, to avoid the temptation of checking who had the highest post count. -_-

Actually strangely enough, I think it's more common to see people going to the forums and not knowing there's a main site for it. If you watch the AMV Announcements board a lot you notice a few posts now and then announcing their AMV which is not even entered in the database.

Anyway, I digress AnimeMusicVideos.org is indeed huge and sometimes it is hard to find particular people especially those who are busy busy people who can't spend much time posting and stuff. Ah well, now if only all these thousands of registered people donated to the Golden Donut how well funded it would be! :)

Klin's right ... when i signed up a few days ago, i didn't know about the main site ... and thought this was only a disscusion post. Then when i logged in agin i had to find theforums ... i'll eventualy go and find out what the rest of the site dose.

As for the golden dougnut, well i only have a rudementry understanding of what it is ... but yes, you'd problaby have your goal, and then some if every member in the memberlist suddenly rose up form the dead and donated a few bucks. After all, there are only 1770 pages of users.

to post in the forums, you need to activate the account through the email. IF you don't activate it, you'll just get access to a member profile, not be able to post in teh forums.

I'm not sure if that was a bug or if that was left as it is.
