What American singers/actors/etc are popular in Japan?

Due to some bizarre circumstances, I've been asked to try and find out what domestic singers/goups/actors/etc are currently popular in Japan. Does anyone have any good ideas or where to look? Or, better yet, have been there recently and seen what people were listening to/watching?(Ashton?) Thanks!
