Subcultures of Filmmaking?

Post by y2kwizard » Sun Dec 08, 2002 11:29 pm

Is AMV-making the only little-known subculture of the large category of filmmaking in general? Are there other types of small communities that make certain types of videos?

I suppose that animation could be considered a subculture, but it's a pretty large one. There are commercially successful 3-D animated movies, so I don' tknow if this can be considered as small-scale as AMV's.

I guess one really good example of what I'm looking for is Star Wars Fanfilms. THat seems to be a little-known subculture. There is no commercially successful Star Wars FAnfilm (with the possible exception of Spaceballs...).

So are there any other communities like those of the AMV?? I'd love to know about them. I love the Fanfilm community and the AMV community and am looking forward to learning of others.

(Oh, by the way, THE site for fanfilms is http://www.theforce.net for all of you who are interested.)
