If you guys didn't know, Matt Groening no longer works on the Simpsons and only worked on Futurama up until last year when it was cancelled of course.
Maybe that's why you guys noticed it lost it's flavor? I thought last years was pretty bad too. This new season seemed funny to me. But it also seems like every episode is a non-sequential halloween style anymore too.

I am not sure Chaos...I do know it's happened somewhere in the last 4 years. Simpsons have been around for 13 I think....
I do have a quote from Matt about the show:
"Groening: I don't own The Simpsons -- Fox does. I try to make the guys who smoke cigars realize that it's in their own interests to keep the show top-notch and not exploit it and run it into the ground. Sometimes I'm successful, sometimes I'm not. "
Maybe he moved on but since it's still an anchor on their schedule, they just won't let it go. I have to say the voice actors are very loyal to it despite any opinions they may have.
And, one more thing about this whole Futurama topic
Expect lots of sexual innuendo and nudity in the 16 eps left. Why? Partly because it's a last ditch effort by David Cohen and Groening to get Fox to see how Futurama should be (should have been) in a later time slot. Hope it works though I doubt it.

The only thing makes me favor Simpsons and Futurama over the Family Guy is that TFG was roughly 98% slapstick, bold, incoherent humor.
The only time TFG did any humor of any depth was from the baby, and even at that it was not that great. Admitedly I loved TFG and it's disjointed humor, but at least the Simpsons and Futurama included humorous allusions to current (or in futurama's case past) events/fads/popular trends.
Although the baby beats out Bender any day of the weak for Humor.

Indeed, the Simpsons have lost much of their flavor. But I didn't know about Groening. That makes sense now. I thought I was the only one, but I'm glad I'm not. I've gotten out of the habit of watching every new episode, I miss that too
.
Yes, Futurama should definately have a spot on Fox. It would be the only show I'd watch consistently. That 70's Show isn't bad, and neither is Malcolm in the Middle... but they aren't cartoons! Future for Futurama on Fox!

Well, if I was given the time, money, and objects needed to pinpoint the EXACT episode, and joke that The Simpsons went wrong, I'd definatly do it.
Anyway, I can never see Futurama, because over here, the time slot is 7:00 PM on sundays.
Do you know when they usually air new seasons where I live?
In Autumn.
Do you also know what they play on sundays in Autumn?
Football.
Do you also know that every game of football that Fox airs over here goes into a 30 to 1 hour overtime?
That's why I can never watch the show.
But it's ALWAYS over in time to watch the piece of flaming garbage that is the new season of The Simpsons.
It does have some good jokes, though sometimes it can really suck.
