why does the org use paypal for credit card donations?

Post by Farlo » Wed Jun 04, 2008 1:46 pm

moneybookers would be cheaper, therefore more directly to maintence etc.
instead of takeing from every donation using the credit card paypal acct, it would just charge a flat rate to withdrawl.
moneybookers.com wrote:What does it cost to withdraw money?
Withdraw money via bank transfer: € 1.80($2.77usd) flat fee
Withdraw money via check: € 3.50($5.40usd) flat fee
Withdraw money via credit/debit card (Visa only): € 1.80($2.77usd) flat fee
http://www.moneybookers.com/app/help.pl?s=fees

seems it would be more economical at anyrate.

BEcause Paypal is more well known.

Maybe Paypal is paying (Bribing) the org?

Safety and/or legal reasons.

Doesn't that require people to sign up there before they donate though? If it does, most people probably wouldn't want to go through the trouble. Most people already have a paypal account.

That really makes alot of sense. Since more people have paypal than moneybookers so more people would be more likely to donate. About sums it up, don't ya think?

yeah i forgot about that before i posted. that would be a small hassle to some, but it would still save the org quite about out of each donation..

Think about this.

Paypal= Higher fees, more donations.

Moneybookers= Lower fees, less donations.

Forced signup is actually a fairly large barrier, believe it or not.
