How About An "Edit" Button?
it'd keep people from spamming boards trying to correct themselves... and it'd be easier to change posts manually rather than waiting for the facist moderators that run the site. wouldn't you all agree?

You mean, like the edit button that's been stated MANY TIMES would never exist?SpPANDA wrote:it'd keep people from spamming boards trying to correct themselves... and it'd be easier to change posts manually rather than waiting for the facist moderators that run the site. wouldn't you all agree?
"If someone feels the need to 'express' himself or herself with a huge graphical 'singature' that has nothing to do with anything, that person should reevaluate his or her reasons for needing said form of expression, possibly with the help of a licensed mental health practitioner."

If you REALLY need to fix something, drop a message in the Moderators drop box, and they will probably fix it for you. But that may be too much an ego-trip for some of the people on the forums... (Aiming toward the Anti-Mod's)

Ya, and misspelling is really no big deal. I bet I just did it right now, I'm not too sure how to spell "misspelling". lol We can normally always get the idea of what we're saying.
One problem I feel I have sometimes with EDIT buttons, is when someone posts something, and you respond to it, but later they change what they said. Problem is, the person who responds is pretty much just left out to sea, since now no ones know what he's responding to. Making quoting ever more important.

Pros (Edit Button):
1. Prevents double posting. If someone realizes 10 or 20 minutes later that they left out something that makes their previous post easier to understand it would reduce the wasted space of double posting to clarify.
2. Makes quoting more useful. If someone changes their comments then you could still show what you meant instead of having a post that makes no sense. People already utilize the quote feature.
3. Some people are bad typers no matter how smart they are. Even with the preview window careless errors get through and annoy or embarass in some cases the poster.
4. Just plain easier to change a simple yet sometimes gross error. Eliminates the need to contact moderators over an error that most likely won't get fixed because the moderation deems it not important.
Cons (No Edit Button):
1. Makes people smarter...? I personally am not conviced by this argument.
2. People can't change things that others comment on. Prevents confusion.
My thoughts if you care to know them are that the edit button should be allowed for those that feel it necesary to fix and clarify their posts. If people change something that is quoted and deny having said it, it would be hard for them to gain the trust of others with the 'edited on (date)' text below their message. It would save people time, at least in my case, for the people who like to get their thoughts said correctly instead of previewing a dozen times.
This post probably sounds like a one sided argument and it is. These are simply my opinions on this matter.
In the end I believe an edit button would be a very useful tool and I, and many others, would appreciate it being an option. Anyways thanks for your time reading this.
