Need to know if its okay to upload God of War video.
I just finished editing a God of War video, and before I post it, I was wondering if it would be okay to submit it. The reason I ask this is because...well...if you ever played God of War you know why. The video is practically teaming with violence, blood, gore, what have yeah, however, I believe there is still some artistic merit to it.
Kratos is portrayed as this nearly unstopable killing machine up untill the very end, where for the first time, he actually shows some humanish charateristic (guilt at having been tricked into killing his family). So initally, this thing plays with your head a little, because you practially *want* something bad to happen to him, the thing is, when it finally does, you feel torn between satisfaction at him getting what he deserves, and remorse for the way it came about.
So my question is this; because there is more to it than just people being killed left and right, is it okay to submit it, or should I make a pass. I would like to upload the video for review, but I'm not sure who to send it too. The thing stands at 43.6 MB.

The gore factor doesn't even enter into it...

What? Hmm...I thought cutscens from videogames were accepted, but upon rereading the guidelines for entering new videos, I know now what you mean.
Can someone tell me this then; doing a search for any videos that was done off the Prince of Persia series, I saw that someone made a video whose scenes came from nowhere but from that game. http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... p?v=114651 Now then, I may be wrong, but Prince of Persia doesn't look like a very animish game to me, so does that mean this person violated the rules, or was there some sort of loophole involved? I'm just asking becasue there is video I plan to create latter on that involes "The Two Thrones", and instead of making a new topic, I figure to make use out of this one. Wheather or not I can or can not upload it doesn't matter, since I'm making these things for my own benefit/entertainment. I just upload them here for constructive criticism and user reviews. For the purposes of this site, an anime music video is defined as a music video where the majority of the footage comes from anime. For the purposes of this site, anime-style video game cut scenes (such as Final Fantasy) are considered "anime".

Yes, we are in fact saying the same exact thing. That's what the "x2" was for... I took it even further and added something so as to actually contribute to the conversation.SOAD2k8 wrote:I figured the not-being-anime aspect suffised.BasharOfTheAges wrote:x2SOAD2k8 wrote:God of War is not anime, nor is it a Japanese anime-esque video game. If all that is in the video is Prince of Persia then the user is violating the rules. If you find any more like that just stick them into a topic in the mod drop box and they'll get removed from the site.Angeteen wrote: Can someone tell me this then; doing a search for any videos that was done off the Prince of Persia series, I saw that someone made a video whose scenes came from nowhere but from that game. http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... p?v=114651 Now then, I may be wrong, but Prince of Persia doesn't look like a very animish game to me, so does that mean this person violated the rules, or was there some sort of loophole involved? *hits the keyboard with his head*If all that is in the video is Prince of Persia then the user is violating the rules.
You've got to be kidding me. I can understand about stuff that's taken from real life, but I figured if it was animated to at least some degree then it might fit along the given guidelines. I guess not. Oh well...I don't have to appreciate let alone like the rules, but I do have to follow them. Tell me this then, just to make sure I have it right, its got too "look" animish, before it can be accepted, right? So what does that mean? What definitons specifically?
I mean, I know that Final Fantasy is anime like, and that the stuff I already mentioned isn't, so does that mean, the more realistic it gets, the less fitting it gets to be for this site? What about Castlevania: Curse of Darkness for example? It doesn't look overly realistic, but it does look a little on the animish side. While at it, what about Appleseed? Realistic, but then again, not overly so. I'm starting to get confused now. I used to think that anything that was drawn from real life was disalowed, but now, I see the gap has widened more than I expected. Can someone please set me straight on what is, and what is not considered animish as far as the site is concerned?

*looks up from his reading*
@_@ Okay...this is something I'm definatly going to have to bookmark. I understand the part about a game having to be Japan based, which is to say, basic common sense, however, how can you tell if something was produced there? I mean, up untill someone said so, I didn't even know that God of War was a non-Japanese product.
The style and spirit thing struck me as a little vague. I mean, yeah I know what anime is, but as pointed toward something like Appleseed, would that mean it would be counted as non-animish? This brings up another good question; what do they mean by cell painting, or CGI?
I know what the terms mean, but if something is a computer generated image, then that should mean the cutsenes from Castlevania are okay, but what about something from Prince of Persia. I mean, a computer was used to design and create everything, but it doesn't even resemble anime so it automatically fails the style and spirit part. Ugh...I hate these grey areas, they're such a pain in the butt to understand and comprehend.
