A very stupid question
Is a "hit" a download or a visit to the video profile? I know this is a rather stupid question, I just wanna be sure.

You can check your downloads by clicking on 'edit my video'. The number of actual downloads will be in parentheses ( ).
At the very bottom of the page, you can click on 'bandwidth used by my videos' and see the number of attempted/completed/re-downloaded downloads as well as the bandwidth usage your videos had month-by-month.
Stats. Gotta love them.
