Option to withdraw opinions completely?

I've noticed (and been recently involved in) an escallating game of bad opinion / retaliation. In several cases, both sides may be stating what they feel is their honest opinion but are prefaced by all 1s or similar low scores. Niether side wants to re-evaluate their opinions.

I was curious how well a 'mutual opinion withdrawl' would work. (Similar to Ebay's 'Mutual Feedback Withdrawl' option.) Presuming both sides may agree to pull back bad opinions completely and making this an automatic option rather than appealing to the mods everytime.

The biggest drawback (other than more work for programmers) is the retaliation war which I think has gotten so far out of hand as to render that argument moot.
