still NAGO...

Post by njamunky » Wed Jul 27, 2005 12:58 pm

ever since the last "nago problem" update on the member's main page, its been three days since the last. still there is a problem. you guys at animemusicvideos.org, i know, you are trying as hard as you can. i appreciate your diligent work, i do, but i got a suggestion: you said you had a backup to ther server, correct? why dont you USE that while this one is down, that way, we can all download again? just a thought, you guys prolly alread thought of it and didnt do it for a GOOD reason. but this nago problem seems a little wierd...did it just start acting up all of a sudden, or did something change and it started to go crazy? anyways, im concerned, thats all, so any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

I can't speak for derobert, but I believe they have a backup of the data, not necessarily a backup server per se.
I have no idea how to use this new forum.

Thank you for the suggestion, but Kusoyaro is basically right.

In this post, greenjinjo posts what is already on the login page. http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... 491#727491

The RAID for Nago (Redundant Array of Independent Disks, READ: a bunch of hard disks connected together) is down. What this means is that the server itself is fine, but the storage device (where all of the videos are stored) is unable to be accessed at this time. We do have backups of all of the videos that are stored on there, but we do not have an extra storage device to hook up to Nago. So, for all intents and purposes, Nago is to be considered down as it is unable to serve any of your download requests on account of not being able to access the device that houses those videos.

Please be patient while we attempt to fix this problem, but be aware that it appears to be a hardware issue which, more often than not, will not be solved with the simple flip of a switch or the press of a button.

Obviously, it's taking a little bit more work than was expected. Servers aren't easy to maintain, and since they provide all of these videos for FREE, I'd say that it's better to not bug them about Nago and just let them do what they need to do.

No, no, obviously it's important to post over and over how inept the site's staff are, because obviously they don't know how to run the site and they need detailed instructions from people who of course know what they're talking about because they visit the forums regularly.

Ok. If you are so much better than the people that spend their free time maintaining their site just for your enjoyment, why don't you fly on over and fix their damn server yourself instead of sitting on your ass poking fun at other people. In other words: Make yourself useful for once.

In the meantime, I wish I knew which AMVs still used the Kero server so I won't have to sift through bad link after bad link looking for videos.

jbone was being sarcastic, pal.

One night on the Org and jbone's already ruffled a flock of feathers.
