dunno if it was suggested or not but how about adding a "looking for amv" or "amv request" forum... there are a lot of videos not on local or anywhere so it might not be a bad idea to help keep a lot of those questions out of general amv and keep them all in one place so it's easier to find without searching.
i guess if you were smart you could just do a search for the name, but people are stupid, lol.

If you're gonna add it, there should be strict rules governing posts - i.e. the topic should be Editor/Artist/Song/Anime (and nothing else), and the post itself should have any other relevant information that could help in finding the vid.
This way you won't have people posting lists of multiple videos - if someone finds the vid you can lock the thread and allow room for newer requests.

Alternate idea, on some of the popular and frequently requested videos (IE odikuruu) you could make a sticky for them and people with the video could just volunteer 'pm me if you need this'. I know I have some of the common requests and wouldn't mind sending them to people who ask but I generally don't notice request threads.

This would serve the dual purpose of helping people get non hosted videos (although the really popular ones should be on proxy) and helping to find the title of videos they can't find.
Like: "I once saw this really funny video at a friends house and it had a bunch of lipsynching at the begining and it had something to do with lesbians." Pretty much any org member could figure that one out and point them in the right direction.
I've even seen people with discriptions like "it's a DBZ video and it's all scenes of Goku fighting android 17 to rock music and it's really cool" get the video they remembered (and when you really want to watch a video, but can't find it, it is extremely frustrating.)
Thirded.
[It just occored to me that I have a much broader idea of what this forum could be used for than the original post, but I still think it is a good idea to have both kinds of threads because it would give the mods someplace to move the threads when they poped up on local and it would be fun to guess at video discriptions.]
Maybe not that strict. A lot of people can't find a video because they don't remember that stuff.dokool wrote:If you're gonna add it, there should be strict rules governing posts - i.e. the topic should be Editor/Artist/Song/Anime (and nothing else)
