Possibility of being alloted a slight more space than 100mg?

Post by Tsukasa-San » Sat May 07, 2005 11:28 pm

Yeah, I know I come of as sounding greedy, but that's not my intenetion. I'm working on a video right now that currently has a size of 110 mg. The video is 10:47 long, and covers four songs. I'm actually not done yet, I still have alot of effects to incorporate, and probably one or two more episodes to cover (its Naruto, I'm doing pretty much the entire fight between him and Sasuke that's going on right now, so the video probably won't actually be done for another few weeks) I'm using Vegas 5.0, and haven't figured to how to change the settings to keep it below 100mg. I'm already using the smallest size-quality video type that I know of (.wmv) as my export type. If anyone knows how to chane the quality settings, and doesn't mind sharing, I would really apprecciate it.

But anyways, my question is, would it be possible to be alloted a bit more than 100mg upload space? I'd show you (the people in charge of the site) the video before you alot me the space (so you could make sure that its worth it) of course, but I just really like the vidoe so far, and am only going to make it better; and would like to put it up for all of you out there to see.

I'd apprecciate it if you would consider it.

Have you read the sections of Ermac and AD's A/V guide that cover post-processing, resizing, and compression with XviD and MP3? It's my belief that XviD can offer better compressibility than WMV9, having used both in the past (although I didn't do that much experimentation with WMV9, but I still did enough to conclude that it was almost as good as XviD, and this was months and months ago).

And naturally, you shouldn't be exporting something below 100 MB directly from Vegas -- export a lossless version first, then compress that with something else (read: VirtualDubMod).

Yes, you can request to upload a larger file. How to do it is covered on the request upload page. When filling out the request large upload form, make sure to carefuly read the directions. You'd be surprised the number of people who request a 200-byte upload for a 6-second video.

Is the request automaticaly granted or is each case looked at individualy on a per user basis?

After seeing Aquasky's (Icycloud) latest vid, I see no reason why a video should take more than 10MB/min.

I've never seen it there, guess I just overlook it. Thank you for pointing it out.

Yes, it's quite possible, and we've already done it for some videos. It's a recent addition to that page, added April 1.
