Uploading Vids but keeping them hidden until premiere date

I reciently uploaded a video and saw that i could choose to have it not visible to the public prior to a certain date, however in order to actually put the video on the org you are forced to set your premiere date to a point in time prior to the day you're submitting it. Why is this? If i don't want a video to be available for download until it appears at a con, why must i say it premierd (according to the org's definition -- was shown at a con or was first made available for download) prior to the date it ever actually did? Is this just a simple bug? or is there some reasoning behind this?

I'm guessing that, if you make it available for download but hide it from the public, that still technically counts as premiering it.
