Allow more video game music video leverage

Post by MikaelJuha » Tue Oct 26, 2004 12:00 pm

yeah i spent like 8 hours on this trailer parody with halo 2 footage and the music from the Matrix Revolutions trailer, but the video got banned so i feel like shit after that, just knowing i had 8 hours down the toilet makes me hate this site a bit more. damn yeah anime is tight as a mother, real cool, real fun to watch, but my style doesn't fit this site anymore, time to leave i suppose, farewell a-m-v.org, you were cool, but not cool enough.

if you could be so kind to allow more video game footage like in my vids, i wouldn't have departed from you, but you know, this site to me is brilliant, but yet greatly flawed.

although i'm not really comin back to this site all to often anymore for its flaws i will return for its illegality of downloading music that is free, and to obtain more video game footage down the lines of final fantasy and so on and so forth. don't be surprised if this site is ratted out to people who're against pirating music, because this site screams illegalness lol.

so take care until then.

...said a video editor who, by his own admission, just finished making an product which didn't even go with site regulations, and now complains that it may not be distributed online for free.

Seriously, you've been here for what, 5 months? And all along we've been explicitly telling you that NO, YOU CAN'T UPLOAD GAME VIDEOS (unless they fall under the Japanese game regulation). This has been told you in not one, not two, and probably even more than three topics on multiple occasions. And here you go and try uploading something like that. Either you have a really poor memory for information, or you're purposely trying to convince yourself that such information, officially confirmed as it was, was of no relevance to you (why?). Your video information was purposely falsified (I haven't seen the video, but you listed it as an Animatrix AMV which, evidently, it was not).

And since when has the .org been a place to make you feel good about some 8 hours you spent making something not relevant to its' purpose? Hey, I know of editors who feel bad after spending 100 hours doing something that was in all ways applicable to the .org, even if it stays uploaded.

Yes, if it doesn't suit your purpose, make the intelligent choice. Recognize the virtue of letting go, and do so. But do so without empty threats and bitterness, because this incident is absolutely and entirely a repercussion of your own inconsiderate actions.

Good luck, and please learn to recognize that the world, let alone the .org, is not there to accommodate your need for attention.

There's no real problem with this, either; and there's even no reason you can't co-exist here and in other communities. In fact, why not look for a community about game videos? There may not be a GameMusicVideos.org, but there's enough communities that are interested in it; and in many cases, they will have someone who can provide you with video hosting as appropriate. At the same time, you're not bound to one community by any means. If you want to download or make an AMV, or a Final Fantasy MV for instance - you're not under obligation to sell your soul to the .org to do that.

But if you're in need of an all-out niche for your tastes, this certainly isn't the place for it. The .org has always had a defined mission statement, and one member out of almost 230,000, or one editor oout of 15,000 is not going to change that - nor would it change if the majority was for it, as the site is privately owned, even if donation-supported.
