"Favorites"....

Post by arczi-kun » Tue Oct 26, 2004 4:37 am

Hi, I have an idea for a-m-v.org : What do you think about adding like "add to favorites" . Lets just say, you can add to favorite member, anime, music , song etc. For example you add to favorite member, and if he will upload some new amv, you will you will know that....

I think what you are suggesting is a function that watches new uploads, and informs you of one that is potentially up your alley, based on a preference list. Am I right?

I could see the "member" senario you mentioned. There are a few AMV creators I wouldn't mind having an automated update on. I really don't know if the function as a whole would be deemed worthwhile or not.

However, I don't think any video of a creator, anime, song, etc. I adore, would inherently make it belong on my favorite list. Viewing it first is always a necessity.

Actually, 'fan management' has been promised as a part of the site sometime in the future (i.e., whenever the 'Org coders get around to designing it). You'll be able to keep track of your favorite creators and be notified when they release new videos.

While expanding that to anime wouldn't be a problem, expanding it to musical artists would be, considering the giant mess that is the musical artist database.

It would still work, I think - but it wouldn't be a guarantee of accuracy.

Still, even if you set it to watch a band you like, and it gives you a heads up on the release of even half the videos released to it (provided the other half are screwups that misspell the name, which is probably not true), I think it would be useful enough.

Ok, you right, with music, or song, or anime it can suck, but with member, I think it can be great idea

we already have a favorite animes list

another problem with the favorite music list, is that some of my favorite artists/songs haven't been used, and that's probably the case with many others. so we'd probably have to manually enter them ourselves.

We're kind of talking about it from the 'Fan Management' standpoint though, with some sort of 'heads up' being directed to you when a video using it is uploaded - which is probably a practical enough idea.

Favorite music list in the same sense as favorite anime/AMV... could be, but slightly pointless I think.
