sticky idea
the question comes up so often in general amv for the legality of amvs, i believe it would be a good idea for a mod(preferable someone like AD) to make a sticky about the legality, and fair use practices involving amvs.
the thread should be just the primary post, and then have it locked to keep from it being spammed.
the thread could be called "AMV legality"

And, perhaps as addition, something about plagiarism... just to prevent those who read it from posting about it.
Although that's hard, because I don't think there's any solid conclusion about plagiarism.

I have a much simpler solution, but it requires ADMIN status!Corran wrote:How about a single sticky thread that has a link to every frequently asked question on the org. Sort of a consolidation of information for new people
Every video uploaded is to be reviewed by "the Pest of the West" ( just a title )
before being allowed to be viewed by others.
1) this will require a fairly fast connection on the Admin's part.
2) it will screen-out violations and can erase the link to that video - right away.
3) the uploader would know why his/her video was not allowed to be posted.
4) Sense hardly anyone is reading the Guides, let that be the reason someone
would not be allowed on the site.
Simple, straight forward, and no if's ands or but's about what happened!
It require us to have a lot of faith and trust in that Admin, it would be worth it.

Well, don't you think that at well over 10000 local videos uploaded just this year, this would be just a LITTLE too steep a job?post-it wrote:*unneccesarily complex idea*
In other words, considering the constantly-increasing upload rates, I don't think there would be a potential admin prepared to critically view upwards of 50 videos every day. Seriously, say if an average video is about 4 minutes, that would end up being 200 minutes or so... can you say 3.5 hours of straight AMV viewing a day plus filing a response to each one (probably another minute per vid, even with templates).
I smell a 35-hour-a-week job for someone. Maybe the donation money will cover it
