Download speed is ridiculous
Yes, I've mentioned this before, but got no help out of it, so I'm mentioning it again.
I'm on a 3mbps cable connection, yet on the Org, I'm d/ling, at the max ever, 65KB/sec, with averages recently dropping to 20KB/sec. ANY other site I go to, I get well over 100KB/sec, with 280KB/sec being the average. This seriously annoys me since I download more off of the Org than anywhere else. What should take 5 minutes ends up taking an hour.
So I'm wondering if anyone knows of something, ANYTHING, that could be restricting how fast I'm downloading, and of any way for me to fix it.

sigh.... if only i was living in the dorms right now i could prolly get that speed too;; i get around 200kb during peak hours 300-500kb normally;; the lowest i think was 20kb but hey its cable i dont need to worri about connecting a disconnecting or taking up a phone line if the thing is slowZarxrax wrote:Well, it certainly doesnt seem to have a lack of bandwidth. I typically download at speeds greater than 1mbit/sec, at times hitting as much as 6mbit/sec. During peak hours I typically get at least a couple hundred kb/sec. I'd say its just your connection to the server.

Actually, we are running out of bandwidth for a good part of the day... Phade is working on buying more. Any day now, hopefully.Zarxrax wrote:Well, it certainly doesnt seem to have a lack of bandwidth. I typically download at speeds greater than 1mbit/sec, at times hitting as much as 6mbit/sec. But definitely follow AD's advice about donating more. We need to get a second storage server soon.

Just dump all the Dragon Ball Z/Linkin Park vids that should free up a terabyte or two.derobert wrote: But definitely follow AD's advice about donating more. We need to get a second storage server soon.

Sorry, that was mean I know but, there must be hundreds of them!
(Granted a few are pretty good.)

I can remember that as well, and I'm only 17. I'm damn contempt with 10kbps, and although I might whine in jest, anything above 5kbps and doesn't take up a phone line I accept as a god-send.Wheee_It's_Me! wrote:o_O
