some problems when I try to upload AMV

hey guys I'm having soem troubles uploading my AMV to the Org.

First problem is when I try to log in (using CuteFTP), I put it the passwword that they told me to put it (where it says the site link, username, and password) and it won't accept. I put it in again, won't accept, try it another time an dmore times and won't accept.
Why is that?

Second thing is when I was uploading it to the site but it was cancelled, it said it will take 9 hours. Is that correct? Is it supposed to take that long to upload it through FTP onto a-m-v.org. Is thier way to shorten the time?

my video is 920 MB...im not to smart on deep computer knowledge like how much RAM and stuff like that....is that too big? Is thier any way to compress it?

Dude use a codec like Xvid or Divx, or run it through TMPEG first. That'll make the filesize reasonable. 920MB is way too much. You should save that copy for submitting to contests and conventions. There are multiple guides in the guides section I believe on compressing your video. You should check that out, it'll probably help ya.

get the AMVapp. That will give you the tools you need to compress it. You can either experiment on your own with codecs like Xvid or divX or you can read the guides which are pretty technical but will tell you the best way to do things.

can anyone solve the password porblem though? I try to log in (using CuteFTP) and I use the correct password the .ORG gave me and it still won't let me in.

The temp accounts created on the FTP server expire after a while. Try re-requesting upload permissions and use the new uname/passwd.

i just can't seem to compress it to make the file smaller...every program I download won't work or whatever.

Can I somehow compress it in Adobe Premiere?

Follow the standard "upload a video" procedure. From your logged-in members-menu page (http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... s_main.php), click on the "upload video" button from the list on the left side of the screen. On the presented page, click the checkbox to agree to the TOS, then select the video you want to upload from the dropdown menu. Hit "request upload permission".

This will produce a page with information like the following:

video: [your video name here]
ftp server: nago.animemusicvideos.org
username: [some 10-char string]
password: [a different 10-char string]

Username and password are randomly generated and case-sensitive. Be sure that your caps-lock is off and that you type both correctly. You may want to turn off password-masking if your FTP client supports such -- and if you're not in a public place where undesirables can shoulder-surf you -- to be doubly sure of what you've entered.

I'm sure this info is available elsewhere, but it's best to be complete.

As for compression, you might want to read the guides, paying special attention to use of compression codecs in Virtual Dub. VDub allows you to select both audio and video compression modes; just sending the file through without choosing either defaults it to uncompressed uncompressed. A lot of people around here like xvid/LAME-mp3, both of which take some tuning from the aforementioned guides to get optimal.
