why are some topics locked and no new posts are allowed?

Becuase self-rightous admins or mods have descided that said topics do not contribute to the forums in which they are posted or have drifted to far off from their origional topic.

[MOD467: Or there already is a duplicate topic on the same subject matter with more responses for which we have provided a link to when we locked the superfluous thread.]

Anyway, topics get locked when they start going tangential to the course of the topic. It's nothing to get upset about unless you like angsting over a Web forum.
