TEH EVIL TWO WEEK WAIT
i think it was a really bad idea to hav to wait two weeks before u can download locally. some people might be turned away from the site b/c of this. besides, what if i want to show some friends (outside the site) my AMV? they will hav to join and wait two whole weeks just to see it! i dont think their gonna do that...... and a-m-v.org is like the only place on the net u can upload vids for free! i dont think that they should complicate it by doing this, maybe they should take away the two week wait and see what will happen? i think it will go alot better

There's an easy way to get rid of that 2-week wait: donate a few bucks and help Phade with the extraordinary costs of running this site. Do you realize how EXPENSIVE the Golden Donut is? How many TB of transfer it gets each month? How much storage it requires? How much it's abused by newbies who post "remakes" and "tests" and live action vids and heavily-pixellated, unoriginal crap?
Phade is doing the biggest service to the community that could possibly be done by creating the Donut and by maintaining the 'Org.
The 2-week wait is to ensure that people don't create an account just to download one video and never touch it again. It gives you an incentive to donate (thus getting access to GD vids faster and supporting the site at the same time. If you can't donate, it gives you something to look forward to. Maybe while you're waiting, you'll join the forums, and eventually become a contributer to the community instead of just a leech.
The two-week wait ain't going away anytime soon. Donate or STFU and wait.

You've obviously never heard of Tripod or Angelfire.
Until you realise how easy you have things at this site, I highly suggest you stfu and learn how to use IM transfer.
Or better yet, burn your AMVs to a CD and bring it to their house
Or even better, bring your friends to your house and show them the AMV you made that should still be on your computer.
Until you realise that it's just over a THOUSAND dollars a month to host this site, and how much that money is-- you shouldn't be complaining.

Okay, I guess that was going off of the assumption that his AMVs won't suck. Judging from his typing, I suppose this was a wrong assumption, and I apologize for making such an optomistic judgement =Pek1 wrote:Riiight.Maybe while you're waiting, you'll join the forums, and eventually become a spammer / bandwidth waster to the community instead of just a leech.

you should be grateful this site doesn't even have ads or popups. few sites can pull off such service and presentation running solely on voluntary donations.Phade wrote:The Golden Donut:
