Q: How do I play the videos that I downloaded from this site; What is the best Codec?

Every creator uses different settings when rendering and encoding their AMVs, and some videos may require higher computer specifications than others to be played properly. But for the most part, downloading the Combined Community Codec Pack should be sufficient enough to play whatever video file that you encounter on the site. That pack also includes Media Payer Classic, which is an excellent media player that can play a wide variety of files and formats.

More information about video playback can be found here.

Q: I made a AMV that uses hentai and could be considered pornography. Can I enter it into the catalog?

Yes. The goal and overall purpose of the catalog is to be a comprehensive database of ALL AMVs. However, since there are no direct age restrictions for downloads, you may not upload it to the local server. If the video is available to stream or download on another site, you may either provide a indirect link to it, or only provide the link to those who contact you and specifically request the video. You as the video creator are directly responsible for appropriate age screening.

Q: How do I catalog and upload videos to this site?

To catalog a video, go to the “Enter New Video” page located in the “Editors” dropdown menu located on the left side column of the main site. Once you follow the steps listed on the page and enter all the required information, you will then be able to “request upload permission” by going the the “Upload A Video” page that's also located in the “Editors” dropdown menu. Once you do this, you will have the option to either use the site's web uploader or to upload your video through an FTP client with the information that will be displayed after you request upload permission.

Information specifically on how to use the web uploader can be found here.
Instructions on how to upload videos using an FTP client can be found here.

Q: I accidentally entered a video into the catalog twice. How do I remove the extra entry?

To remove a video entry, click on the “Request Deletion of Bad Video Entry” link located at the bottom of the “Edit Video Info” page located in the “Editors” dropdown menu located on the left side column of the main site. This should only used to remove duplicate entries, not for videos you don't like anymore.

Q: I don't like a video anymore, can I delete it?

The goal of the video catalog is to be a comprehensive database of ALL AMVs. So instead of deleting the video, you can make the video hidden by going to the “Edit Video Info” page located in the “Editors” dropdown menu located on the left side column of the main site. To make a video hidden, select the checkbox for all the entries that you would like to keep visible, and uncheck the ones that you'd like to hide. Then click the "choose top videos" button at the bottom of the list.

Q: I went to change the premiere date of a video that I cataloged, but its not working.

Premiere dates that are in the future can be changed at any time. But once a premiere date is in the past, it becomes locked. If you mistakenly put the wrong date, you can ask a admin to change it by selecting the “Request Change of Locked Video Information” link at the bottom of the “Edit Video Info” page located in the “Editors” dropdown menu located on the left side column of the main site.

Q: Can I catalog/ upload a manga, video game, or cosplay music videos to this site?

For the purpose of this site, anime-style video game cut scenes (such as Final Fantasy) are considered "anime", and are allowed to be cataloged and uploaded. Manga music videos can be classified as “anime inspired stills”, and so they are also allowed. However, cosplay music videos are only allowed to be cataloged and uploaded if they feature a significant of anime footage. is a good example of a cosplay music video that meets this criteria.

In the case of videos that primarily use non anime-style video game footage (For Ex: World of Warcaft), Non Japanese animation (For Ex: My Little Pony), or Cosplay Music Videos that don't also feature a significant amount of anime footage; they are not allowed to be uploaded or cataloged, but they can still be posted, announced, and discussed in the "Other Videos" forum.
