It'd satisfy everyone's burning need for OT. I wouldn't mind modding it, except I have NO TIME. Keeping everything universal is a good idea. I vote: Give it a shot. if it sucks, kill it like a $2 whore.

Well I have been playing arround with it a little bit on my server and it has a MAJOR drawback

The fact that it has the screen name length limited to 10 characters is easily fixed but as it isnt 100% real time (Refresh rate can be set down to 1 second from the default 10) it takes about 2 seconds for it to write a post to the database and recall it to the main chat window. other than that it seems pretty nice, just on average there would be a 2 second lagif you people want to try it out its under the Chat Link on my main site, and its set up so that you have to register to use it

That's a great idea, but considering the major drawback I'd say go with a java chat of some sort, maybe Bravenet's free java Chat room, or something like MSN's set up, although that's be a bitch script to write. I'll go search around for free java chats...

Anyhow, I'd gladly be mod of the chatroom if it ever gets set up. I've been in chats 5+ years, and I know the type of shit that goes on in there and how to solve it. Although I wouldn't be able to be in there 24/7 a great majority of people know I would be on a really LONG time. >>

It'd probably be best if we had maybe a 10+ mod set up and have a certain schedule...

Well, I'll just go looking for free java chats now... -walks off-

Okay, I got a nice list of [seemingly] good choices here.

http://www.freejavachat.com/index.html
Free, ad supported, not moderated.

http://www.sigmachat.com/services.html
Pay by year service at 75 USD per year, no set up charge, moderated.
(PRO setup)

http://chat-forum.com/freechat/index.htm
Free, ad supported, moderated.

http://chat-forum.com/prochat/index.htm
Pay by year service at 30 USD per year, with a one time setup fee of 200 USD(IIRC). Moderated, able to have multiple rooms.

http://www.visopsys.org/andy/babylon/download.html
Free, no ads, moderated, able to do whiteboard.
This one seems like it'd be the best choice, but it's only a beta, and I didn't test it out yet, so I don't know if it's really buggy or not.
I am also not sure if it's only the owner of the chat or everyone who wants to chat that has to download it...

So anyway, there's your list.

The reputation of the AMV chatroom has kept me out of it. But a new one would make me go there ^_^
