That's exactly the problem. We don't have the same alias system that we do for the anime (probably because of the song titles and such under each artist).

I'm pretty useless when it comes to being technical about any of this :uhoh:

I do know that that would be a lot of work... o.O But I'm tired of seeing Artist: Unknown Song title: unknown. I mean, if even the creator doesn't know the NAME or the artist, then it doesn't really give me any incentive to watch the video....>_> and it's kind of sad when linkin park is up on the most used list TWICE, just misspelled. :roll:

It also kinda comes in with the problem of people using different song names and you download it and it comes up with an Evanescence or Creed song. Kind of....annoying...>_>

But to go through the entire list of songs.... :shock:

It would take a small phalanx to tackle the database of ~50K entries.

I said "hire", not "pay". Website administrators are the slaves of the XXI Century.

Here's a solution:
Create a form that will appear on each AMV downloaded by a member. This will ask the member if the Editor gave the right anime and music sources.

print "<form action=\"php script\" method=\"post\">\n";
print "<strong>Is this AMV correctly credited?</strong><br />\n";
print "<input type=\"radio\" value=\"Yes\">";
print "<input type=\"radio\" value=\"No\">";
print "<input type=\"submit\" value=\"Send\">";
print "</form>\n";

On submit, the form will check the form if the value="No", if yes, then it will call a PHP script or JavaScript which will prompt the downloader to fill in what they think is the correct name to the anime or song.

After they have submitted their new form, the information along with a link to the AMV will be sent to a list which a moderator or admin who will use to confirm the changes to the database.

Furthermore, if an AMV is flagged as possibly having the wrong sources credited, it will show a notice on the AMV page and the editor's page so they can act to confirm, fix, and update the information. Moderators or a selected group could also be assigned to perform the function of correcting the information.

Maybe I'll take a crack at some theoretical coding later on when I know more about the database.

Sounds great, if it can work.

I just hope people don't go around flagging "Linkin Park" because they think it should be "-likin park-" :?

Of course it'll work. PHP is a basis for magic. You just have to do some coding, throw around some functions, and pray. Make sure to use lots of loops as well.

Prayer is the most important ingredient. Prayer and belief. Yeah, lots of belief. If you screw up, you'll get a very pretty PARSE ERROR screen of doom.

i h8 php. :(

everyone's just gonna push 'yes'...

right now, members can view a list of artists if they don't know the exact spelling. but that doesn't stop them.

another problem is that a lot of audio sources aren't prerecorded music, and would be hard to track down the sources to.
