I hardly ever see any newbs asking for help as of late, there used to be a lot of them. Mostly, we'd just direct them to the guides if we really cared(most of us didn't). That was all the help I could offer since I'm not an expert on making amvs. But as of late all of the newbs comming in are really disrespectful. IM'ing everyone to pimp their amv, scrolling, insulting regulars and other newbs, causing arguments and flame wars, ect.Pwolf wrote:i don't think the AIM chat will go away. if a new chat was started, i'd be in both. The chat room is a very good place for newbs to come and get help. The guides are very confusing if you don't know how to read them. sometimes a little nudge in the right direction helps. The chat room acts as a fast way to get help. the forums can take a while and well if you don't understand the guides, which most newbs who need help dont, then what else are you gona do? Right now the chats arn't a good place to ask for help cuase anyone who walks in will get chased out. I've on several occations IM'd several of the people who were chased out and offered help. that's not right. the chat room should be a place where people can talk about what ever, including getting help on AMVs. Even us regulars ask for help but we arn't run out like the new guy.

So anyway, the plan is to have this new chat for newb help only? Because, that's what it sounds like, and what it should be.

not only is this new chat supposed to stop us regulars from flaming the newguy, its also to stop the new guy from flamming us. it works both ways. Last year we saw a huge number of newbs coming into the chat room. some of them stayed and are now regulars or come back every now and then. To me it's fine if you start flamming the guy who just came in to flame you. but the guy who comes in for help or wants to know something. flamming them for not knowing how to download a video isn't right. it's annoying that the question is asked so much, but it doesnt take long to just type out "there is a link to search videos on the left menu in the main page". A chat just for help would be cool... you can just redirect the people to that chat, but it wont stop the assholes.

Don't you ever dare think of replacing the AIM chat, I don't mind the fact of two chats co-exsisting, one for newb help and all, but replacing, that's a big no noseijin_dinger wrote:no the suggestion was to replace the AIM Chat with it so that the assholes flaming people etc cant just get away with it. and honestly its you guys who chased some older people out of the chat

I don't know what the hell you're talking about, "regulars chasing other regulars out of the chat" only a few would do something like that, and they're rarely in the chat anyway, and if they are they're most likely idle. Stop using that as an excuse, I have rarely seen an event like that, and it's usually newbs that chase us out.
And seriously, shut the fuck up about regulars flaming newbs. Don't go and be the bad teacher and punish the whole class for one or two person(s) mistake.

summ your taking this way to seriously. the AIM chatroom will not go away. no matter what happens it wont leave. even if the link is gone, it will still be there. the only way it will be gone is if AIM goes under.
Now it is so true that the regulars in the chat flame newbs who come in. It happens almost every time someone new comes in. you probably don't see it cuase you aren't in the room. It happens. As for regulars being chased out... I am not as active in the chat room like i used to becuase a lot of the people i enjoyed talking to in the chat don't go there as much, or don't go their anymore. I also don't go there often becuase i don't like a lot of the conversation that goes on plus i don't like how a lot of the people in the room treat others.
people don't just come in to get help... they come in cuase it's the org chat room.. they want to chat with people. so creating two rooms wouldn't fix anything. although, i do think a help chat would be good. it can probably help reduce some of the new people from getting flamed as much as they do when all they want is help. and also would be a good place where those who really want to help can be without the side chatter of the regular chatroom.

Well the main thing is that all these creators that were scared away now have other means of communicating with each other and I don't see that a new chat would get too much use.

I don't treat them badly.Pwolf wrote:Now it is so true that the regulars in the chat flame newbs who come in.

well, flint is respectful to everyone, and so are a few other people. But people(who i am not naming) that have constantly gone into amv announcements and flammed people WITHOUT even watching the video they are trashing talking will kinda kill the chatroom. If we have respectful people signing up to be mods for the chatroom to protect and preserve it for users, then that would be great. But if there are just the gestapo mods like in the current forums, I dont think people would want to chat with them lurking around. Just my idea's
