so it goes like that: once you've uploaded on animemusicvideos.org you lose all rights on your amvs and you can no longer choose what happens to them. well, i guess i just won't upload any more if so.

put better credits on your videos next time.

what does that mean? the part with credits can always be removed if someone decides to copy parts of an amv.

or let them know your lawyer is getting annoyed at having to deal with stuff like this all the time like I do.

you could watermark it if you wanted with your own logo or whatever...

you could also get your friends to spam the crap out of the comments till they delete it, or take it down...

you could do the playlist thing like i said, and use it to be mean to them

Once the video is confirmed, the video cannot be changed and becomes a permanent part of the video library, so make sure that the uploaded file is the final version of your video.

That is what you agreed to when you clicked the check box and hit the submit button acknowledging that you understand the upload rules. This site tries to be a catalog for every amv ever created. Deleting entries or files from the server would defeat that purpose.

As far as work being 'stolen' that can happen by posting to you tube just as easily as here...

it's not that you lose rights, its just that you uploaded it to the org knowing that people could download it. if you didn't think that they would put it up on the tube, then I'm sorry. But people uploading your vids means they liked it enough to do that.

And do what katie said about credits: put watermarks on them? something, anything, doesn't matter, who cares.

Uploading it anywhere on the internet essentially does the same thing, regardless of if it's here at A-M-V.org or y-tube or somewhere else.

Like JaddziaDax said, someone uploading them to y-tube is a compliment in a way. At least somebody likes your video enough to share it with others on that other site. OR to take credit for making it.

You can do what I do: make AMVs that don't use popular music and/or popular anime so people don't bother trying to upload them elsewhere. My studio bumper and credits are easy to edit out...

Regarding being ripped of - yes. Regarding the control over your work - no. If you upload it elsewhere you have usually the chance to delete it.

I can't see how deleting the video file would affect the purpose of being a complete catalogue of AMV's, since the data base entry remains. And I don't understand why one who uses hosting at the .org is in such a disadvantage compared with one who uses own hosting and a direct/indirect link, because that person can always remove the files.

i think its to prevent abuse of remakes O.o

someone can remake a video years later and call it the same video, even though its been changed and is different from the original...

and according to the org rules if a video is remade its a new video... and needs a new entry into the catalogue
