I kinda like the idea because I am curious as to what people think, but I'm against it. The only thing it could do is exalt one creator over four others, and possibly create friction or resentment. As AD said, these videos already have their glory. I think it's best just to have multiple thrones.

How many editors already dislike Koop because of his effects tech? Or Odorikuruu because of IT's... whatever it is. I've heard people complain, I've never seen it personally and as for Shounen Bushidou well... I've heard ALOT of people say some things about it.

My point being, people complain because they like too (or some because of jealousy or whatever). They're already going to.

But I see your points.

Flint, your sig makes me want to kill things.

Moving on: I don't like the idea, because I think there's no point at all and time gives us bias that sort of renders the whole thing pointless anyway. But here's something for fun, since I get fits of math occasionally and I'm a giant dork.

Find out how many votes each got. You can't compare them directly, because there are more members now than there were in recent years. So find out membership at those points in time (it's probably impossible, but bear with me), or how many people voted. That will give you the percentage of the voting public that was behind a video when it was released, which IMO is a more interesting gauge of the splash a video made than ranking them all now, completely out of context. Did one win by a landslide? Is there one EVERYONE liked, back when there were fewer members? Did one barely squeak by against some tough competition?

That's marginally interesting, more so than anything you'd learn by having people vote now on older videos. They just can't compete on an even plane, even if there were a reason to. Which there isn't, really.

...if you have this gaping void in your soul where competition once was, can't you just make action figures fight, or something? ;P

Kidding.

Seeing the amount one won by would probably be a better indication of the competition than the strength of the winner though... it wouldnt offer any useful information to compare between these videos.

lol, then don't read Max Barry's Syrup. :P

I'll find another quotation tomorrow.

Duly noted. (Any of that "smart equals ugly" BS I avoid like the plague anyway.)

And yeah, that's true about it being a better gauge of the competition. I'm just thinking of a way to play with the existing numbers rather than go through some pointless vote now. :p
