Sounds like a common, but self-defeating goal. "I'm going to be better then all these other editors."

A more worthy goal might be "I'm going to make a good video that I really enjoy.". Nevertheless, only being able to see your rank if you're in the top 10% is not exacly ideal.

HOWEVER, it if you could see your rank, you'd be very confused. It would be changing constantly. Since there are so many videos, your rank would go up when more videos go op'ed that were worse then yours, and would go down whenever another video that was better then yours got op'ed.

Such a highly changing number isnt very indicative of anything, even for curiosity.

I unchecked that box under 'Accessories' when I was installing Windows :P

Note this:

If you don't think I was serious, I'll say you don't know me & my video-related aspirations well enough. Telling me to be more self-motivated is like telling a fish to be more... aquarian

Of course it's self-defeating as a goal. When it's actually a goal, that is. And in my case, it's not a goal, it's a number. But it's a number that's neat to know, if anything.

I'd be fooling myself if I released videos with the aim of gaining scores. On the other hand, I'd be fooling myself if I pretended these scores didn't exist or do not apply to my videos.

If there's a score, I'd like to know it. Is there anything self-defeating in knowing a number that'll inevitably be attached to your vid?

If it can be accessed more conviniently than reinstalling windows to get calc.exe, I'd be grateful

control panel -> add/remove programs -> add/remove component [in xp] (or the 2nd tab on 98, evident on all winOS) -> accesaries -> calculator -> CHECK

It will probably ask for you to insert the windows cd. This is more conveniant then `reinstalling windows'.

As for your reply to my post, you covered the first half fine, but it wasnt particularly directed at you, just a general thing. You ignored the 2nd half talking about how the number wouldnt make any sense, and wouldnt be stable once you got too "low", and hence just be confusing and misleading. Perhaps I am wrong there, someone care to explain?

You're missing something very important here: while the number would vary somewhat, chances are good the variations would be small. The change between 5000 and 5050 really isn't that significant, for example.

No, I think I see what you mean.

I don't think it would be misleading, as long as there's an explaination of what the number actually means and how it's calculated.

And I wasn't thinking of it in terms of comparing it to other vids in the low bracket - just what it is for my own videos. Like the suggestion said, a number on the 'Edit My Videos' page would suffice.
