And also, if that is what you're thinking... there aren't really enough relevent site discussion topics to warrant creation of a new forum.

I'd like to see a forum on Video Opinions- like a disseration on what makes a particular vid good or bad. I know that this would fit under OPINIONS section of DL an AMV, but I think that it'd be beneficial, both for the creator (who sees a particular AMV dissected and examined under the cold, scrutinizing eye of everyone here on the org, but also for potential DL'ers. What makes it cool? what makes it suck? each thread could be devoted to an individual vid, or a collection of vids by the same editor. An opinion is an opinion, it's a "I like this because..." but it's not an actual discussion with the editor in question.

Just a suggestion.

So you want a place where you can initiate undirected conversation. Basically, it'd be like OT, except this time we'd have an ostensible topic.

This sounds like a ticking bomb.

I can summarize 95% of the threads that will appear in that board with the following:

- "OMGWTFYESSUCCESS VIDEO SO KOOL I WANNA HAVE {HIS/HER} BABIES!!!1!1!!ONE"
- "WTFTHISSUX0RZ!!!11ONETQWO!O!!!"

You're also not going to be able to shield a video's editor from discussions like that.

Discussion about subjective topics on the Internet -- especially places like Usenet and Web forums -- always dives headfirst in the toilet. Creation of such a forum is just asking for trouble.

That's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

This isn't such a bad idea. I'm quite fond of being able to compare opinions with other posters and to hear a more diverse range of ideas.
Of course this kind of discussion would be best done in The Video Announcements forum.

Exactly. You put it better than I ever could have. A forum like that would be a place to simply converse. However, unlike the OT, it would be confined to set topic (that of the .org) thus making the mods job much more black and white than it could ever have been in OT.

But if each thread is relagated to a specific video, then the OT would be reduced, in my opinion.
