Non-Anime Videos
I'm mainly just an AMV creator, but recently I've done a few videos that are non-anime. I would like a way to list them on the website, however they would obviouslly not be able to be downloaded from the site.
My idea was that there should be a way that we can enter a video, and select for the Anime/Visual: Non-anime, and then have to list the footage used in a sperate box or in the text/description field of the video. Selecting (maybe set it as a 'category') to enter a 'non-anime' video, automatically disables the video from being allowed to have ANY links from it, and simply then a way for creators to keep track of all their videos in one place. (Allowing direct or even indirect links may make people from other fandoms come and use/abuse the system just to advertise their videos, and why I would say no links at all.)
I don't want to see the list of Anime/Visual footage to be even more cluttered with non-anime stuff, and I don't want these videos to be searchable (again don't want other fandom MVs to come and abuse the system). Just want a way to add a video to my profile that is non-anime. With the title, date completed, etc...

I don't remember Anneke saying it is unclear. Although...trythil wrote:I don't see how that is unclear.Main page wrote: Welcome to AnimeMusicVideos.org. This community is dedicated to the creation, discussion, and general enjoyment of fan-made anime music videos.
Fixed. Oh wait, that isn't in the description...Main page wrote: Welcome to AnimeMusicVideos.org. This community is dedicated to the creation, discussion, and general enjoyment of fan-made anime (oh, and video game cutscenes that are obscurely anime-related) music videos.
Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.

I mention mine in my org profile (if anyone bothers to scan through the monster that it is) and have it on the same webpage as my AMVs. There are plenty of avenues to popularize non-anime AMVs (like the "vidder" mailing list on Yahoo! or the "vidding" LJ group), and if anyone is interested in both they can check out all of your work.
There's no reason to list them here at all. There are other homes for that sort of thing. Same way that I have my AMVs here and my cosplay stuff at CosplayLab. A person's online persona is often spread over various sites; that's kind of how it works. Personal websites are the place to draw that all together.

As I said, I don't want to have them 'listed' here really. I don't want them searchable or anything like that. But would just like a way to have them list on my profile. Maybe just an extra box on the user profile where I can list non-anime videos I've made. I just want a record for myself in the same location where all my other videos are.

I would like to be able to put the videos into the 'list' of videos created on the profile. (By date order). So I can look at my list, and others, and when they see I haven't made anything for months they would see that actually I have been, but it's been non-anime. (shrugs).
