Say No to Stretched/Squished Banners

Post by ZaCloud » Thu Oct 06, 2005 11:23 pm

Um, yeah this'll probably be locked or deleted, and that's perfectly fine, since I don't think this fits anywhere on the forum really... (But I just feel it needs to be said and this is the closest related forum I could find on the .org...)

Please, folks who are submitting banners for the .org... Stop submitting stretched/squished images. I have no idea how you folks don't notice how awful and deformed the cute girls and such look when they have football-shaped heads. I'll so often see otherwise wonderful banners that I would vote for in a flash, except they're ruined by extreme malformation of the characters.

So if you keep feeling disappointed, wondering why nobody's voting for your banner... that is probably why. :?

Don't waste your time and effort; resize or crop instead of treating the image like play-doh.

Thank you!

(I think this would be best in Site Feedback, personally - hope the mods move it there. Good point though.)
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

The banner I edited for the org a couple years ago wasn't very good but I learned a lot about image editing and layers in general. I think it was worth doing if just for that learning experience.

I think another key point that should be mentioned is that AnimeMusicVideo.org's logo is meant to represent the org. So if the logo is grainy/stretched/pixelated, etc, as i have seen in 8/10 of the banners in the last few months, it doesn't say much about the site.

^ by 8/10, i meant 8 out of every 10 banners, or 80%, not that i've only looked at 10 in the last few months.
