My amv is not downloading properly for viewing

Post by BunofGovt » Fri Jul 08, 2005 10:16 pm

I tried a search on this but didn't find it already posted. One of my vids appears to be downloading as text, not a video. This is the link to it,

http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=55035

when I click on Local to download the file, instead of my Quicktime screen appearing with the loading showing, I get a bunch of text on the screen, and then my laptop gets hung up in downloading it and my cursor spins like it's trying to do something but can't finish. I have to exit the Internet and log back on to the forum. Do I need to re-upload this? Could it be another problem resolvable without uploading?

This is going to sound even weirder, but I had re-edited this vid, deleting some scenes and adding others and was going to ask about uploading the second version as a re-master, or getting the first one deleted and uploading the second version to replace it. If that would be easier than trying to solve this problem, I'd like to do that. But if this is a problem that needs to be resolved (I don't see that anyone else has mentioned a problem like this, maybe I didn't search far enough), then let's see if we can get that taken care of. And if this should have been two different posts in two different forums, sorry, thought I might as well mention all of it to save ourselves effort and time.

Could have to do with the file name not having an extension. However, even so, it should still download, not display. I suspect your browser is broken and ignoring the Content-Disposition: attachment header.

I just tried downloading my other amvs and the other one without an extension is also doing the same thing (Love and Thunder), appearing to downloading as text. The amvs with extensions on the file names download properly.

So, since I was going to ask about uploading a remaster of the Osakan video, should I first ask for deletion of the bad Osakan amv, explaining why, and then create a new entry for the remastered version?

And then ask for deletion of the Love and Thunder amv, explaining that I need to upload it again, making sure the name of the file has an extension?
