I've sniffed and searched around the forums, but I haven't found quite the information I've been looking for and I'd like some clarifications. My question is, basically: Where does the org draw the line on VGMVs?
Final Fantasy FMV videos are considered acceptable, but I'm not sure about rendered cutscenes. FFX, for instance, has a mixture of the two and its in-game graphics are better than FFVII's FMVs. What about games in which all the cutscenes are non-FMV? Devil May Cry 3 is the one I'm specifically thinking of, but it applies to any game with game-engine-rendered cutscenes. Are they disallowed because they don't look anything like anime?
I'm guessing that the non-FMV ones aren't allowed to be hosted locally, but are 'proper' music videos-- as opposed to combo and other gameplay vids-- allowed on the site if the files are hosted elsewhere?

The only difficulty with that is the fact that nowadays, it's getting harder and harder to tell.bum wrote:FMV from japanese games is ALL thats acceptable. Game footage isnt.
In any case, just stick to the rule - majority of video content must come from a Japanese animated source; avoid gameplay footage, stick to FMV's, no problem.
Personally, I plan to 'test out' that 'majority' rule when I get the chance...
