How to download?

Of course the stupid n00bie doesn't know the ropes. I've searched the site, found a video that looks appealing, clicked on it but all I got was the author's info on the vid, but I don't see where I can download. Am I missing something here? And whilst I'm asking questions....how does one find an avatar/or put one on?
