Um, ok, my first post on this board seems to have been quite a special one.

I first posted on this board today in the AMV Suggestion forum that I'm looking for videos which are introductions to anime. You can look in there for a detailed explanation of such things, but I'll try to summarize here. I'm sure we're all familiar with character profiles and tributes to specific animes. Well, these "introduction to anime" videos are more than that. They are put together in a way that, instead of giving a salute to the anime or characters, aim at showing the viewer what anime is all about, or at least a section of it. 3 examples of this which I have downloaded are "Suichi's Question" by anneke, "The AMV Before Halloween" by shiningfingerstudios, and especially "I'm Turning Japanese" by KovinFirewall (I might even stretch a little farther to say "The Fanservice Video: Bouncing Back For More" by Zarxrax could qualify, but that seems more themed on humor than introducing people to big-breasted anime women).
Yeah, great summary.

Anyway, I'm not really sure what I'm suggesting here. I suggested to AbsoluteDestiny that he make it a category inside the Recommended AMVs forum, and he replied asking me to bring it up here. I guess that's what I'm suggesting. I could even go so far as to suggest it as a searchable video category, but I know I don't exactly have enough experience on this board to make such a suggestion. Take this how you will.

I really love these intros, and I hope I can find more.
Another problem that comes up is how to phrase it. "Anime intro" makes it sound more like simple copy/paste of an anime's intro than introducing anime to people. It could be called "Introduction to Anime," as I've already been calling it, or these other names I've thought of: "Anime Lesson," "Recruitment," or simply "Intro." Yeah, it's hard to sum it up into two words. Anyway, take what you will with this and run with it. Thank you for listening.

I don't wanna make a sig and you can't make me.
