The 'music' in my RPBP videos probably qualifies, as do several records by artists of questionable mental state and histories of substance abuse
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

That's why I don't think putting a music genre tag will do much -- genre classification as a filter is just too vague to be used by anything except, say, sarcastic electronic music guides.

IMHO.
I found so many good songs thanks to that website, thanks Trythil!

(me goes of to listen to some Dark Hardcore Trance Tribal)

Oh, and to weigh in on the topic, I don't agree with you, Voices of Ryan. I mean, it might be helpful for people to filter things, but it's also difficult to pigeonhole some bands. I call Man or Astroman? "Electronic Surf Rock" along with Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet and a few other bands. Most other people would just say "Instrumental Rock" or "Experimental Rock" or maybe even just plain "Rock." But if someone filters Man or Astroman? down to "Rock" and then listens to one of their theremin-laced songs, they're gonna complain.

Do you see the problems this would cause? It's just better to leave the descriptions of the genre to the video notes. Which half of the cxreators don't use anyway:

That's if it says THAT much. You expect people to also come up with the genre of their music, on top of that.....:)
Life's short.
eBayhard.

I say the database is fine for searching for things as is. Though it wasn't a bad idea, adding this option will probably only lead to a million subgenres and improperly label genres for songs. I still only classify music I listen to into two genres. Good and Bad.

I've got to stop procrasturbating.

It's not really possible to classify music in the way that we can classify videos. Music is far too fragmented for it to be plausible.
