Thw FAQ is dated. I'm sure Phade will get back to his prioritised list of things to do once the VCA is over.
As for free. Yes and no. You don't _have_ to donate. You just miss out on all of the extras that are open to those who have.

Hey De6v6il6,

In the sense that a donation is required for you to access the local video storage, the answer is "no, you can upload and download videos the same as a donator. The only difference is a small time gap to get started. After two weeks of membership, you can have the exact same privleges as any other member of the site".

The only current difference between donators and non-donators is that non-donators get to see a screen every once in a while that says something to the effect of "this site costs money and without your help, this site will die. If you like the site, please donate something, even if it's only a few bucks or so."

It used to be that donators had the extra bonus of being able to search for vids by the "local" indication. That perk has been leveled so that donators and non-donators have the same ability. There are plans for other "donator perks" in the near future. Details to follow later.
