extremely stupid question

Post by skatachica08 » Thu Dec 11, 2003 9:55 pm

Okay maybe I'm just really really stupid, but how the heck do you view videos again after you download them (i downloaded them using "local")!!!! Every time I want to see one again, I have to re-download it. Help! I'm stupid!! Thanks!

It will depend on the file extention of the video.
If it is an .mpg or .mpeg you can just open the file in most any media player that comes with your computers operating system.

If it is an .avi, it is most likely a DivX file.
You will need to download the DivX codec from:
http://www.divx.com/
The current versions are 5.1.1 for windows, and 5.1 for Mac
The DivX codec and a player can be downloaded for free.
However, following the codec instal, you should be able to play DivX files on your computers other multi-purpose media players.

Of course, you should also make certain that you are saving these videos locally on your computer's harddrive. That might be the simplest solution.

If, when you click on the link to download the video, your browser starts playing it instead of prompting you for a location to save it to, then what you want to do is go to File --> Save As... when the video comes up.

you mean, should i click on the link and hit "save as" before the video comes up? or what do I click after the video comes up? (if that's what I have to do)

once again, thanks a lot! :D

Oh hmmm, guess it's been a while since I downloaded anything from here. If you're using Internet Explorer, left-click on the local link and it'll eventually open up a download window that you can Save from.
