New banner rule/local deleting

Post by SQ » Fri Sep 05, 2003 11:55 am

Pretty sure these arn't on the to do list, but I apologise if they are on there-- I haven't read it in a long time.

Anyway, I think it'd be nice if you could self-delete local videos. You could have "Delete an uploaded video" under "Upload a video" on the members page, select the video you want to delete, and then recover the old username/password used to upload it, so you can manually delete it within the FTP.

Just a thought...

Also, I thought it was a pretty obvious unmentioned rule, but it looks like it needs to be mentioned for the banner ad contest.
Could you please state that the banner must have something to do with AMVs to be entered?
Also a rule stating that you cannot mention your studio and/or username on the banner would be nice. I'm seeing an infultration of "let me promote myself and my studio" these days...

I really don't want people uploading "test" vids, or saying "oops, I forgot to check the spelling before I uploaded", or "I don't like my old vids anymore so I'll just remove them", or junk like that and then overwriting them at will. The local storage is for final completed videos. Once you have deemed a video as final, that means that the video is final and should not be changed.

If people are doing blatant self-promotion, it is unlikely that the banner will win.

Thanks again and have fun!! ^_^

True, but there are some people who don't check the video before they confirm it, and end up with half of a video wasting away space on the donut. I'm sure you don't have enough time to fulfill all the requests to delete videos by your own hand, so I think the self-deletion would be a bit better.
I realize that you want a detabase for every video and not just the good ones, but consider this-- Once people get self-concious and say that their older videos suck, and they're on local, and they could delete them, wouldn't it end up saving space on the donut? Besides, even if you do delete the links, you still have the text and the slot in the database that the video does exist. You just won't be able to download it..

... If I'm thinking in a very stupid way, stop me now.

Yes, but that doesn't stop the countless "Hellsing rocks!" banners being voted in, as well as the anti-banners.
Banners are made to advertise a site, not say a certain anime or character is better then the rest and that the new banners are following a predictable production scheme that we want to make fun of.

I agree with SQ on the banners. We need more banners that actually promote the site. Not a "Look at the cute girl!" banners. Im seriously getting tired of a cute anime girl banners made by Anime Sensei. :x
