Hey FurryCurry,

The "proceed" is the same link type as the original link. If it is a direct link and you don't do a "right-click->save as..." then the video will start to stream just as if you had click the direct link normally.

Problem - if the donation link comes up while you're searching and you hit "proceed", it kicks you back to a blank Supersearch.php, completely invalidating whatever search you were in the middle of. This is getting annoying.

Hey ShaleZero,

Links to videos should not come up in the serarch section. They should only appear in the video information section.

The "ad" in the search has a 1-in-3 probability of coming up. If the search gets messed up, you can do the search again and hope that the ad doesn't come up again.

Or, better yet, you could donate $1 or two to the Donut and not have to worry about it ever again. :-D (or just wait until the Donut project is done and the ad is no longer needed)

phade, honestly, these popups were fine and dandy until I was MADE to click proceed, and I can now only stream direct downloads. Fix it. Not even refreshing the page helps. Not even reloading the page works. You want people to pledge? Make the site less annoying. No one wants to contribute to a website that says "give me money and I'll be less annoying" .. If anything, this turns OFF my wanting to pledge, which I personally WILL do, but not before this gets off the ground.

The link type on the "proceed" link is the same as the original link. If the link was a "direct" link, you can "right-click->save as..." just as if the link was the orignial link.

The reason there are ads for the pledge drive where they are is because I couldn't think of a more effective method to let everyone who visits the site know of the pledge drive. If you could provide a more effective method, I will be glad to switch.

The pledge drive started off with a bang and then slowly tapered off. The day no pledges and no donations came in, I put the ads up. Since then, pledges and donations are now at an all-time high. It seems that people just needed some reminding information about the pledge drive in order to pledge. The donations are in the most need before the service comes online.

The ads will be removed when the pledge drive reaches its goal. Until then, various methods of informing and promotion will be utilized.

Until then, you must ask yourself several questions when it come to the site, the pledge drive, and the enjoyment the site currently and will provide you in the future: Have I enjoyed the site so far? Is downloading videos the main reason I come here? Is frequently being informed about the pledge drive enough to make me no longer find videos to download while using this site? Is it worth a $1 or two to have the pledge reminders to go away? If it's not worth $1, then you will just have to be patient until they go away on their own.

ok, fair enough, but it's still incredibly annoying. Why don't you stick it somewhere at the top of every page instead of it being a mouse over.. or like, say, an ad page like yahoo does, that you have to click "proceed to video" to get to the video page...

I suppose if the annoyance and seemingly unprofessionalism of the popup is working, and you're getting people to donate the absolute minimum to get rid of it, then good for it working. I just feel it may not be the best way to handle it.

Thanks for the info though. I should have caught that myself.
