How is "Usefulness" calculated?

This is not a problem or a serious issue at all, just a matter of curiosity. As I've been submitting Opinions for various videos during my time here at a-m-v.org, I've noticed the "Usefulness" rating on my member profile change, but I can't detect any apparent relation between the marks that I give or the comments I leave and the rating that results. I hasten to stress that I don't submit Opinions to grind a higher Usefulness rating by any means, but as a matter of general interest I am curious to know how they translate into a Usefulness value.

IIRC it's just based on the letters average - so longer opinions have bigger Usefulness >.>

Average word count per opinion.

maybe this is an option to be gotten rid of considering how easy it is to abuse
