What count as effects?

This may be is a stupid question but I've been wondering.. What count as an effect? When you enter a new video there's a box you can check for digital effects. It says that you should check this if you use any other effect then cross-dissolve. Do text count into this or is it an effect?

It's a matter of debate and personal opinion. Some people even believe that cross dissolves and opacity dips are effects. Put whatever you feel comfortable with.

I'd count text as effects depending on the amount and the kind of usage...
