A thought only. Top 1 percent under fair use act

Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use." a-m-v.org is doing it right by cataloguing. Has anyone actually seen a system for collecting any type of creative works of people who actually create for anime. Unique is this site for that very reason. Youtube may attempt to "overlook" videos. But I have NOT seen anyone actually attempt to preserve the "history" of those works like a-m-v.org does. That's unique. I would like to see amv for my kid's kids generation. Anyone has thought about this place becoming like a historical landmark kind of idea so maybe it might tried to be passed as the top one percent under the fair usage in copyright law. A way of preserving this site is to maybe show people the actual collection of people who make amv's to preserve what loved in this day in time. A loophole. Has it been looked into. Is there a topic already dedicated to this ( I would like to read it anyway.) and if there is fine, but I thought subject would be brought up anyway as a way to see what has come up since then or just a after topic dinner mint or I can go back to my drinking  . It works fine by me either way. mlol. later.
In attempting to make AMV's, I learned one important lesson. When ya screw up, you can always blame sleep deprivation or laugh madly out loud. It makes you feel better. Trust me it does. :P

fair use has been discussed many times, although typically as a "non-profit/parody" rather than a "history-preserving catalog"

until a case goes to court, there is no black and white distinction on when amvs are protected or not. it's like if a homeless guy steals medicine to save his dying wife, he can argue he's doing it to save a life, but the pharmacist can argue he's stealing.
