as for my comment on editing/action i think the category should be just called "editing" and drop off the action part... because of the reason I stated above...
I DO think that visual and audio quality matter as much as much as creativity, because no matter how creative you are if you don't care about your video enough to get at the very least decent quality or crop off the subs, then why should i care enough to watch your video?
as for originality though if the category is kept I think the description should be vague as it is, i think it should be left up to the viewer of what they think originality is. While one person might think that they are original because they shop at Hot Topic and don't shop at those horrid preppy places like The Gap... another who doesn't shop at either will seem them as another Hot Topic Consumer Whore. Originality really is up to the mind of the person.
I agree with godix that lipsync should go, or it should be looped in with "special effects" or whatever the category should be replaced with, he makes a point there. Though Special Effects can easily be put into the "editing" part as well, I do think that it should give its own category so the two types of videos don't get looped together.
for Effort I tend to rate everyone a 7 because I really don't know what kind of effort went into it... nor do i really care.

About the originality of used sources - you used 1k/131k ratio. Well, AniDB actually lists 6,322 anime titles at the moment. OVAs, movies, series. If you'd expect they sure overlap...
... you'd be wrong. There are still heavily underused series, and some of them even fairly good. Just few days ago, for example, I checked Asatte no Houkou, great Slice of Life/Mystery anime. Result? 4 MEP pieces (which I don't count as usage) and 1 standalone AMV. That's all. Hidamari Sketch, Sketchbook, older series, it's so underused that it makes one want to cry.
(That's what we get for using Naruto, DB, Bleach, Bebop, Shinkai, ef, Lucky Star and Haruhi all the time~)
