Starting from when is it allowed to release a video as >A

Post by nulac » Wed Aug 08, 2007 7:01 am

Hi there!

I just found an AMV I made years ago and wanted to release it here.
But then I was watching TV, saw the opening of an Anime and thought: "This looks a lot like my AMV, why does it?" So I checked the video again and found out what it was about: I took the opening of this Anime and just changed the Audio to a part of a Song. Yes, I made an Outro (a few lines passing by) too, but I didn't really MAKE an AMV, or did I?

Actually, the song really fits the Footage pretty good. Especially from the "Beat2Action"-Point. But I just changed the Audio. To get to the Point: "May I" or "Am I allowed to" release an "AMV" that has only a changed Audio? And if I do, will the Comments to it make me wish I didn't release it?

Probably on the last part. I think people release videos all the time that just take chunks of the anime out of it and then just slap on audio. But be prepared for some nasty comments about it. If I were you, I'd start from scratch and just not release it at all. Still not sure if it's really allowed or not...

Thanks for your Opinions.
I will let it be and make a real AMV.
Till then and thankfully, nulac!
