Did Phade write Phorum? I thought he did, 'cuz I haven't seen it anywhere else on the web. However, if he <i>didn't</i> write it, then I guess we know why nobody else uses it now...
Still, if not from a moderation standpoint, then at least from a browsing standpoint, it was better than... <i>this.</i>
And while I'm at it, orange and blue do <i>not</i> go together. >:(

I have no complaints about the content of your avatar.
I have no complaints about the dimensions of your avatar.
But, for Hells' sake, IT'S A 45K ANIMATED GIF!

Oh for cryin' out loud you peep's are startin' to sound like babies here.
"Whaaa I'm on a 56K so everyone should go down to only text-based."
Get real. The net is EVOLVING beyond text-based and into the graphic-based. Sure, text is still necessary, but the fact remains that more and more of the net is starting to use a hell of a lot more graphic's.
And believe me, this forum is no where NEAR what it CAN become as far as avatar's and sig pic's. Go over to www.gamecombos.com forum's, or even www.shoryuken.com forum's. THERE, you'll see that this forum is VERY low-key. (And yes, many over there are STILL on 56K modems).
The problem is that you are all trained on the simple text-based of the old forum. Well it's time for you all to grow up as well as with the site.
The ONLY thing that I can see that will help the forum's is this:
Oh and for the one who said that there are many other forum's that he could have chosen from - well yeah, there is, but all the MAJOR and most recommended for USE do come with some forum code, avatar ability, signature ability, HTML ability, and smilie (yes, those are what are at the right hand side are called) ability. I've typed this whole thing out, and not once have been distracted by the smilies. I don't know what your problem is, but you need to go and view a lot more Message Boards that are truly established before trying to condem this one.

The ONLY thing that I can see that will help the forum's is this:
- Disable HTML That there alone can totally screw up a Message Board faster than any 45K animated GIF can. If you get a hardcore HTML programmer in here, and he gets totally pissed off, he can write up some HTML that can have it so that everytime someone loaded that thread, it'll shut down their browser, or send them to a porn site, or whatever they can think of. And if he's pissed off, don't think he'll just stop with only one thread. Hell no. He'll just copy / paste his code into all the major / hot threads all around, and then it'll be takin' the Moderator's job and Administrator's job to clean up the whole Message Board. And while they are cleaning, all the rest of us will have to sit on the side-line's until they are done.
- Get Moderator's Now If this forum was small in members and post growth, then I can see that the Admin. take his time in choosing Moderator's. But man, this place has gathered nearly all the posts in one day that my forum's have gathered since it's started!! Therefore, a "overseer" needs to be known and present. I do suggest that this here will be the people from the most respected and most known AMV Studio's that are out there, AND are completely trust-worthy.
- Set Limits Now don't get this confused with all of the current bitching that has been going on. I'm all for Avatar's and Signature pic's. But actually setting up php script that will detect any and ALL incoming signature IMG code size's and also avatar sizes will help. And I do think that a setting of 10K and 80 x 80 Avatar and 50K and [normal current signature bottom width] x 100 for Signature pic's.
EDIT: (Well a double post, since you really can't edit your own post...)
Some other things that I have noticed that will help:
Some other things that I have noticed that will help:
- Editing Posts This here should be self-prevelant and well seen. That way we don't get double-posting's like this one here. It will keep the forums with a bit of a cleaner look.
- Link Back To Main Page Alright now unless I'm totally tired out here from spendin' the night with my kawaii, there's not link to the actual www.animemusicvideos.org main front page (and no, not for the forum, but the site itself.). There should be one. That way, one doesn't feel "trapped" inside the forum, and will have to re-open another explorer window to get back to the main site.

Don't talk rubbish.OrionPro001 wrote:If you get a hardcore HTML programmer in here, and he gets totally pissed off, he can write up some HTML that can have it so that everytime someone loaded that thread, it'll shut down their browser, or send them to a porn site, or whatever they can think of.
PhpBB allows phade to select which html tags work, so there's not going to be any '1337' hacking going on in here.
Personally I use html a lot in the video help forum to do various things that help me explain things to people better. I could probably do everything with BB tags but there's no danger in the html.
Oh and for the record I dont appreciate a huge gif image eating my bandwidth and massively increasing a page load time just because someone thinks it's cool.
Also, default sig depth is 0... unless you put something in it.

I'm not talkin' rubbish. Sure, he can remove the HTML code for re-directs, color-scheming, etc, and just leave the simple Bolding Italic's, etc. coding in there, but then again, the BB Code does the exact same thing.
And, for the record, you can also put up CODE as just that. CODE. Not to have it executed, as what the HTML coding does, but just simple code so that way people can see what the code is. If you disable the HTML, that won't effect this.
And I said Current signature width, NOT Current signature height. IE - a signature picture that is big enough to fit into the bottom there, but not too big as to where it'll make the table's even longer than what they are now.

No it doesn't. BBcode can't handle things like links with characters such as '%' and things like that. There are occasions where the html is more useful for the same function - BBcode is just to dumb it down for people.OrionPro001 wrote:I'm not talkin' rubbish. I see your point.. but it's very very unlikely.
Ah good, I understand what you are saying now. I couldnt quite see what you were getting at before. However, this forum wraps to your window so what is a "default" width for one person isn't the "default" for another.OrionPro001 wrote:And I said Current signature width, NOT Current signature height. And yes, I am against signature banners so I'm not really going to conceed that they are a good thing.
As for editing and member main page link - they have been suggested elsewhere and Phade is aware of the suggestions.

It's more childish to try to force a single (and closed-minded) belief of how the Internet should be onto everyone than is is for many people to believe a text-based forum should not allow overuse of graphical signatures.OrionPro001 wrote:Oh for cryin' out loud you peep's are startin' to sound like babies here.
